The Chandigarh boys and girls put up a fine show on the second day of the 60th National School Games baseball tournament (for under-19 players) to enter the semifinals of their respective categories here on Wednesday.
In the girls’ section, Chandigarh eves made a short work of their counterparts from Gujarat to register 13-2 win.
In another match of the same section, Maharashtra routed Delhi with a score of 10-0.
In the other two girls’ matches played in the day, Goa ousted Punjab 17-6, while Chattisgarh beat the team of CBSE 13-0 to complete the semifinal line-up.
In the boys’ section, Chandigarh team also made it to the semifinals after defeating the team of Vidya Bharti 12-1.
In another encounter, Chhattisgarh got the better of Madhya Pradesh 10-0.
With this win, Chhattisgarh became the second participant, after hosts Chandigarh, to book their berth in both girls and boys semifinals.
Maharashtra also made it to both the semifinals, after their boys defeated Goa 7-1.
In the last boys’ quarterfinal encounter, Delhi ended Punjab’s campaign with a narrow 8-6 victory.
