The charges at Chandimandir toll plaza on the Panchkula-Shimla Road will be revised with effect from August 31 midnight. The new rates indicate that for cars and jeeps, people will now have to pay Rs 26 for one side against the earlier charges of Rs 25.
For a round trip within 24 hours, the rates have been increased from Rs 37 to Rs 40. For light commercial vehicles, including taxis, the rate has been hiked from Rs 43 to Rs 46. For round trip, the rate has been increased to Rs 69 from Rs 64.
Bus and truck drivers will now have to shell out Rs 92 against Rs 86 earlier for single trip, Rs 138 for a roundtrip against the earlier charges of Rs 129.
For multi-axel vehicles, the rates for one-way trip have been hiked from Rs 138 to Rs 148 while for round trip it will be Rs 222 against Rs 207 earlier.
The toll plaza became operational in April, 2012, and the first rate revision was effected from September 1, 2012, after five months.
"The toll rate has been enhanced on the basis of wholesale price index. There is a price escalation formula," Vimal Kumar Jain, project director, National Highway Authority of India said.
The four-laning project of the Zirakpur-Parwanoo stretch, which is a part of the National Highway Development Project Phase-III, was awarded to Jaiprakash Associates (Himalyan Expressways Pvt Ltd) in 2007 under build operate transfer (BOT) scheme.
