A day ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray and Indian National Lok Dal’s (INLD) Om Prakash Chautala have emerged as the most searched politicians in their respective states on Google.

“MNS leader Raj Thackeray emerges as the most popular leader online from Maharashtra leaving behind rival Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray,” search engine giant Google said in a statement. NCP leader Ajit Pawar, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis, Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan and RR Patil were next in the list.

As for Haryana, Gopal Kanda, an independent MLA from Sirsa who is moving into the assembly elections with his own political outfit, Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP), emerged as the second most searched political leader, ahead of Congress leader and incumbent chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) chief Kuldeep Bishnoi, who is aspiring to become chief minister, stood at the fourth position among the leading faces online in the battle for Haryana state assembly, it added.
