Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo and former Haryana chief minister Om Parkash Chautala on Sunday demanded the immediate arrest of Gopal Kanda in the wake of a case against him on charge of abetment to suicide of an air hostess in Delhi.
In a statement issued here, Chautala also demanded Kanda's dismissal from the cabinet, disqualification of his membership of the state assembly and dismissal of Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in the state.
The INLD leader alleged that Kanda and his family had a criminal background and they were already involved in several cases.
Chautala said that after harassment and exploitation charges levelled against the minister, he had no moral right to stay in the state cabinet.
He said that the Hooda government had already been facing several charges of corruption, horse-trading and the fresh charges of moral turpitude against its minister had sullied its image further. In such circumstances the entire government had no democratic and moral right to continue in power, the INLD leader added.
