Cheema visits Takht Kesgarh gurdwara

Newly appointed Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema paid obeisance at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib here on Wednesday.

He was presented a siropa by Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Mal Singh.

Cheema said he had come to pay obeisance to thank the almighty. He also thanked chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for giving him the responsibility of a minister, adding that he would perform his duty with dedication. He said the 350 years of foundation of Anandpur Sahib would be celebrated in a big way with programmes from June 19 culminating in June 2015.

In reply to a question about the resignation of the Shiromani Akali Dal member of the legislative assembly (MLA), Hari Singh Zira, after the expansion of the cabinet, Cheema said that neither the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal nor the chief minister had received any resignation letter from Zira so far.
