Haryana Seeds Development Corporation managing director Ashok Khemka could not meet chief secretary PK Chaudhery on Friday, as the former was out of town.

PK Chaudhery had, on Thursday, asked Khemka to appear before him on Friday in the wake of a threat call received by his staff.

The IAS officer was threatened by an unidentified person who had called up at his office landline number that was received by a telephone attendant.

Khemka, who had recently ordered the cancellation of mutation of a piece of land owned by Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, did not inform the chief secretary about the threat call.

The chief secretary said he was worried and unhappy that Khemka, instead of reporting the matter to him, chose to speak to the media on the issue. As the head of the bureaucracy, the chief secretary is the first port of call for IAS officers.

"Since Khemka did not report the matter to me, I have decided to take the initiative and listen to him," the chief secretary said.
