Though the police are still groping in the dark in the Mehram murder case, they have prepared a sketch with the help of a child eyewitness, who was playing near the victim in a Phase-9 park on October 28 when he was kidnapped.

Meanwhile, the police conducted raids at some houses in Kumbra village and Phase 7, SAS Nagar, as they got information that the accused was in the township. As the child was taken away in a taxi, the police also searched taxi stands. Also, the CCTV footage of a hospital located near the spot has been procured by the police. A team of experts had earlier taken samples of the stones lying around the body to examine the acid which was used to decompose it.

A senior police officer said as Mehram’s family did not receive any ransom call, the needle of suspicion pointed to an acquaintance of the family. He added that several teams, under the leadership of Patiala zone inspector general of police (IGP) and Rupnagar director inspector general (DIG), were working on different theories to crack the case.
