City-based architect Shiv Dutt Sharma, one time associate of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, has been conferred with the prestigious JK Great Master Award for his lifetime contribution to the world of architecture.
The award was conferred by Ram Nayak, governor of Uttar Pradesh, at a function in Lucknow last week.
Sharma, 83, disclosed that he had been conferred with many honours but the award being the highest in profession instantly places you in the line of masters.
The award instituted by JK Cement is given after every three years that includes a trophy, citation and award money.
A former chief architect of Chandigarh, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Bangalore, he had been acclaimed for architectural excellence of PGI's OPD, Advanced Paediatric Centre, Advanced Eye Centre Institute Microbial Technology (IMT), National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) and many more in India.
Shiv Dutt Sharma, a prolific author, continued his endeavour in the profession by creating architecture of substance that has been documented in his monograph titled "Architecture of Shiv Datt Sharma"released by UT advisor KK Sharma in September 2012.
