The members of Chandigarh Youth Congress and Chandigarh Mahila Congress on Thursday protested against BJP cabinet minister Giriraj Singh's controversial remarks against Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The protesters burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Giriraj Singh and Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar.

Mahila Congress president Meenakshi Choudhary demanded Giriraj's resignation. Youth Congress vice-president Harmail Kesri said Modi had promised the 'Ramrajya' before the Lok Sabha elections, but it was quite shameful that now he had adopted silence.

He also demanded an apology from the Goa chief minister. "On one hand, the BJP talks about women empowerment, while on other hand, their leaders don't respect women,"said Kesri.
