City doctor's account hacked; emails asking for money sent to 50 contacts

The Chandigarh police cyber cell on Thursday received a complaint that a doctor's email account had been hacked.

Police said the hacker was from Nigeria.

The complainant, a doctor working at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, submitted a complaint to the cyber crime cell but the police are yet to register a case.

The doctor had said his email had been hacked by an unknown person on Wednesday and that the hacker had been sending mails to those in his contacts.

In his complaint, he had said that he came to know about the incident after his relatives and friends started calling him that they had received emails stating he was in trouble.

The mail said the doctor was in Philippines and was in need of money.

The email had been sent to about 50 contacts.

In a similar manner, a person was cheated a few months ago.
