City doctor's book on hypertension launched

A city-based doctor's book on hypertension was launched on Tuesday. Dr Sarvinder Gandhok, a Chandigarh-based physician, has written a book titled "Winning Over Hypertension". He said it was a humble attempt to educate and motivate patients of high blood pressure or hypertension.

"The book deals in detail about how despite having high blood pressure, a patient can lead a normal and healthy life without complications. The book is written in a simplified manner that is easy to understand. Various aspects of the disease are explained very well through pictures and diagrams, thus they can be easily understood by readers," he said.

The book educates about a number of aspects of hypertension which the patient and a common person needs to know.

The highlight of the book are the topics on yoga, natural cures for hypertension, home remedies for high blood pressure, ways to prevent complications, hypertension in children, myths about hypertension and medical humour. Earlier, he had written a book on obesity also.
