After the detection of the first case of Ebola in country on Tuesday, the UT health department formed an Ebola rapid action team during a meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting was organised by the UT health department and representatives of all three main government hospitals including, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, and Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 and Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.
The meeting chaired by Dr Vandana Gupta, medical superintendent, GMSH, was also attended by
representatives of PGIMER's virology department and pulmonary departments of GMCH and GMSH.
During the meeting, an Ebola Rapid Action Team was also constituted which comprised members of all three hospitals of the city. It was also decided during the meeting that to deal with the outbreak of the disease, special quarantine Ebola wards will also be designated.
A similar meeting was also held regarding the issue around a fortnight back. A follow up of the decisions taken during Wednesday's meeting will be held after two days.
However, the health department officials said that hospitals were fully prepared to deal with any untoward situation.
