City markets to get new 400 dustbins

In a move to beautify the city, the district administration is all set to provide 400 dust bins in city markets. The process will be completed within the week.Making the announcement, SAS Nagar deputy commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said the district administration and several corporate houses of the country will join hands to give the city a facelift.

Addressing the media, Sidhu and municipal commissioner Uma Shankar Gupta said this will ensure the city is cleaner.

He also made an appeal to residents to pitch in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to help keep the city clean.

Among the organisations that will contribute to the district administration's projects are Quark City and Mahindra & Mahindra (Swaraj Division).

While the former will undertake renovation of roads from leading to Chandigarh approaching Lakhnaour through furniture market in association with GMADA, the latter will supplying waste bins to the corporation and help in beautifying the road from PTL Vhowk to Bus Stand.

Gupta said "A vehicle will be dedicated to ensure proper garbage removal from these bins. The industrial association has assured us that it will provide."
