The police have booked a Sector-33 resident for allegedly trying to rape his fiancée and harassing her for dowry. In her complaint, the victim alleged that she got engaged to Arjan Gill in August.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that she got engaged to Arjan Gill in August. Thereafter, his family invited her for dinner at their house. When she reached there, Gill’s relatives demanded dowry.
Later, Gill threatened her, passed lewd comments and attempted to rape her.
A case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (sexual harassment), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation), 376/511 (attempt to rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961 has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
In a similar incident, a Dadumajra Colony resident has been booked for passing obscene remarks and threatening a woman. The accused, Mukesh, has been booked under sections 354, 354-A, 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at Sector 39 police station.
