After a long gap of 13 years, the City Beautiful tableau is all set to roll during the Republic Day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi.
The national panel has formally accepted the proposed theme 'Rock Garden' of the city during a meeting held in Delhi.
Confirming the development, UT joint secretary (home) and director public relation officer (DPRO) MM Sabharwal, who is incharge of the project, said the proposal had been accepted and the final decision would be taken on November 21.
The city's tableau will depict Rock Garden, a sculpture garden created by Nek Chand. The garden is the most prized attraction of the city, which according to official figures witness over 5,000 tourists visiting the place daily. Each visitor has to pay `20 as entry fee.
The panel has suggested certain changes for making the moving exhibit form the city look better. The administration has been asked to opt for different background music and a few tips have been given about how to highlight prominent figures of the city.
The administration has hired a team of experts for designing the tableau. Sabharwal said a lot of efforts had been put in as we want to make most of this opportunity of showcasing our heritage at national level.
In the past, the national panel had rejected a number of themes proposed for the city's tableau. During the parade, a total of 18 tableaus, including 12 states and 6 ministries, will showcase India's cultural diversity and military might. Each moving exhibit depicts scenes of activities of people and culture of that states, along with music and songs of that particular state.
