Members of the slum development committee of the municipal corporation (MC) on Wednesday decided that a cleanliness drive, under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, will be started in colonies and slum areas from November 17.

The drive will be held in association with all departments of the municipal corporation including sanitation, public health, horticulture, B&R and malaria departments.

The decision was taken in a meeting, under the chairpersonship of Rajinder Kaur Rattu, which was attended by other members of committee, including Saurabh Joshi, Arun Sood, Amrit Tiwari, Darshan Garg, Desh Raj Gupta, Sarita Malik, the additional commissioner and other concerned officers of MC.

The drive will be started from the Motor Market, Manimajra. The committee members also pointed out that the choes running through slums, colonies and villages will also be channelised by providing proper stone pitching and landscaping, estimates for which will be put up in the next meeting of the committee.

The committee members also suggested that the adoption of villages and colonies should be started by the MC and agenda regarding this should also be put up in the next meeting. The unauthorised meat shops should be removed by carrying anti-encroachment drives in slums and colonies, they opined.
