Clash between Youth Congress, BJP workers leaves 12 hurt

About a dozen people were injured when a protest staged by members of the Himachal Youth Congress turned violent after a clash with Bharatiya Janata Party workers outside the BJP state headquarters here on Thursday. The Congress party's youth wing had earlier announced it would hold protests across the state to oppose a proposed amendment to the Land Acquisition Bill by the central government. Today Youth Congress activists gathered outside the BJP office and started shouting slogans at around noon. Cops tried to force them to move towards the BJP state headquarters, while from other side around 50 BJP workers also raised slogans to counter the protest. The Youth Congress protesters were led by its president Vikramaditya Singh while the BJP workers who were countering the protest, were led by senior leaders of the party.
