The education department class IV employees union protested the decision of state government of enhancing the retirement age to 59 years and said that the age should be fixed as 60 years as the Congress party had promised this in its manifesto of state assembly elections in 2012.

The union after organizing a meeting here in Mandi on Sunday, district president of the union, Dole Ram said that the government should think about the welfare of employees and roll back its decision of not providing pension after retirement.

He said that the state government has merged forest department class IV employees in education department and the process has hampered the timely promotion of actual education department employees who are facing not only the promotion but financial losses due to denial of promotions.

He said that the union will knock apex court door against the merging of forest department class IV employees into education department and the decision will be taken in the state-level meeting next month.
