Cleanliness seems a faraway goal for the areas here which continue to be dotted with garbage heaps.Apart from official apathy, residents’ indifference also aggravates the problem. Filth lies right in front of houses, unattended by both the sanitation workers as well as residents.

While Phase 2 is relatively clean, Phase 1 is in dire need of attention.

Phase-1 residents complain of blocked sewers which cause stench. Moreover, manholes in plenty of places have been left open, leading to a smelly surrounding. Residents claimed to have complained to civic authorities many times, but no permanent solution emerged.

Garbage heaps are also a common sight in both phases. Locals claim that sanitation workers do not clean the place regularly and sometimes skip their beat for days together. Construction debris is also dumped on the roads.

In both phases, the parks and green patches of the city have been neglected. Some of them have come to serve as parking lots while the others have become dump yards with cow dung, dried leaves and other junk. Stray cattle also graze on these patches. This leads to the problem of dung on the roads. Residents complain that nothing has been done about stray cattle in spite of complaining to officials.
