Exhorting people to follow the path shown by great personalities, chief minister Virbhadra Singh said fairs and festivals were the real identity of our traditions, customs and culture and required to be preserved as they were inseparable part and parcel of the hill people.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a three-day district-level Sair fair at Arki , he said, “I anticipate that the knowledge of our culture and customs percolate down to generations and I believe that the coming generations will conserve our cultural legacy.”
Sair fair is also known as 'Festival of Bulls' is also famous for exhibition of rare breed of Buffaloes.
Earlier, chief minister inaugurated subdivision office-cum-residence of assistant engineer National Highway constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh and also laid foundation stone of 50-bed Civil Hospital, Arki.
Dhani Ram Shandil, social welfare and empowerment minister, congratulated people on the occasion and listed the achievements of the present government.
Seema Sharma, president of nagar panchayat welcomed the CM and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
Local MLA Govind Ram, district Congress president Rahul Thakur and former Congress block president Sanjay Thakur also spoke on the occasion.
A cultural programme was also organised during the opening of the fair.
