Chief minister Virbhadra Singh through video conferencing on Monday inaugurated the Deha sub-tehsil and upgraded the Kupvi sub-tehsil in Chopal village of the Shimla district.
The chief minister inaugurated both the institutions from here, while Chopal legislator Balbir Singh Verma, agricultural produce market committee chairman Subhash Manglet and pradhans of around 14 panchayat were present at Kupvi.
On the occasion, the chief minister said the Congress government was committed for providing better services to the people of the far-flung areas. He added that during the last two years of the present government regime, effective steps had been taken for providing basic facilities to the people of the state.
Virbhadra said the Kupvi tehsil would include 14 panchayats- one Kanungo circle and seven Patwar circle-, while Deha sub-tehsil would include 10 panchayats-one Kanungo circle and nine Patwar circles.
The chief minister also congratulated the people of the area on the occasion and said their welfare was the priority of his government. Meanwhile, Verma thanked the chief minister for dedicating the tehsils to the people of the area.
