Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) supremo Kuldeep Bishnoi on Monday said that chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had insulted the people of Haryana, by saying they had got used to "free lunches".

Bishnoi, who met his party workers at his residence, said, "The CM should remember it is due to these people that he has come to power. By saying that people have got used to free lunches, he has made them look like beggars," Bishnoi said.

He added, "The people in the state are not beggars who would ask for free lunches. The CM should tell us what he has given for free to people since he assumed office, which prompted him to make such a statement, HJC leader asked.

He said that it was "preposterous" on the part of the CM to think so low about people.

The MLA alleged that the BJP leaders were the actual "freeloaders" and survived on such things only.

"The BJP leaders have never fought for peoples' rights. Yet, people gave them power for free. And ever since they came to power, they haven't done anything for people. This proves who is having free lunches here," Bishnoi said.
