Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has issued appreciation letters to 338 officials of the state government for their "hard work and exemplary courage" in carrying out relief and rescue operations during the recent floods and landslides in Uttarakhand.
"You were deputed by the government of Punjab for an extraordinary task to carry out relief and rescue operations during the recent floods in Uttarakhand.
The task was indeed challenging. The Punjab government's rescue teams were able to save many lives. A large number of stranded pilgrims/tourists were evacuated and safely brought back to their homes. This has been possible due to your hard work and exemplary courage", said the CM's letter to officials of the departments of education, health, police and public relations.
