Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Saturday extended warm wishes to all Punjabis across the world on the occasion of Diwali.
The chief minister, in his message, said he wished that the festival bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people besides strengthening the bonds of communal harmony.
He also appealed to the people to celebrate Diwali with traditional fervour and gaiety, rising above parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion, thereby cementing the bonds of amity and goodwill.
Badal also greeted people on Vishwakarma Day, saying Lord Vishwakarma was believed to be the master of all machinery and equipments being used by people in all industrial activities. He said that since ages the great deity of all craftsmen and architects had inspired our artisans, workers and labour class to work hard for the nation's development.
Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal and information minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia also greeted people on these occasions.
Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa also greeted the people on the eve of Diwali and Vishwakarma Day.
Bajwa wished Sikhs on Bandi Chhod Diwas, for the historic release of Guru Hargobind, along with 52 princes, from the custody of the Mughals.
