Himachal chief minister PK Dhumal on Wednesday rejected the resignation of health minister Rajiv Bindal and said he had resigned on moral ground in an emotional outburst.
He said Bindal was hurt by continued insinuations being made against him and resigned on moral grounds but these charges were the same as made on the eve of assembly elections in 2007 and after consideration it was found that there was no substance in the charges and he was not guilty.
Hitting out at the Congress for wasting the time of the house by targeting Bindal he said Congress has no issue to pin down the government and was resorting to undemocratic methods.
He said there have been numerous instances when politicians holding positions tendered resignation on moral grounds but these were not accepted.
He said union minister VB Singh had resigned when his wife Pratibha Singh lost Lok sabha poll from Mandi in 1998 three sitting Congress MLAs contested the Lok sabha polls in 1999 and lost, Kaul Singh offered to resign on moral grounds and again in 2007 a Congress minister lost Lok Sabha by-election from Hamirpur and offered to resign but his offer was rejected.
