Four army personnel, including the commanding officer (CO) of a unit camp located in eastern Ladakh near China border, were injured in a clash late Thursday night, Army sources said on Friday.

Army chief general VK Singh apprised defence minister AK Antony of the incident which is said to have occurred 'due to some administrative reasons', the sources added.

Senior commanders have rushed to the camp and a court of inquiry has been ordered.

Army spokesman said the situation 'is under control' and action will be taken as per the Army law.

All the wounded soldiers have been admitted in the field hospital.

While the Army sources attributed the incident to 'internal disturbance' in the unit, informed sources said a free-for-all between officers and jawans occured following an incident of 'misbehaviour'.

It is alleged that when commanding officer of the forward base at Nyoma base, 23 kms from China border, reached the clash site to calm the situation, he was attacked by some officers who perceived that the CO was siding with the jawans while resolving the situation. Seeing their CO under 'assault', the jawans retaliated against the officers.

An advance landing ground was activated in Nyoma by the Indian Air Force to facilitate the army supplies for the troops deployed in 2009.

A clash broke out between Army officers and jawans of a regiment posted at Nyoma forward base in Ladakh late Thursday evening but the situation was quickly brought under control, sources claimed here.

Confirming the incident, sources said, 'Due to some administrative reasons, there was a scuffle in an artillery unit during field firing. The incident is under investigation and necessary action will be taken.'

There are no reports of any casualty.

Brigade commander of the area has reached the Nyoma military base, from where the International Border with China is just 23 km away.

According to sources, a court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident.

Nyoma is a strategically positioned base where an advance landing ground was activated in 2009 by the Indian Air Force to facilitate the army supplies for the troops deployed in forward posts.
