The race for admissions is now gathering heat, with both Pachkula government colleges— Government College, Sector 1 and Gover nment College for Girls (GCG), Sector 14—releasing their third lists on Monday.
While BSc was the most sought after course in the first, the latter saw most applications for its BCom course.At GCG, the cut-off for BCom in the third list is 70 % down from 71% in the second list. There are 160 seats in this stream. For BA, the cutoff was 52.2%, down from 64.2% earlier.
This stream has 240 seats up for grabs.The cut-off for BSc (non-medical) was 77.4 % after the third list. There are 80 seats in the stream. For BSc (medical), which has 60 seats, the cut-off in the third list was 69.4 %.
The cut-off for BCom at Government College, Sector 1, was 66.8 % in the third list. . For BSc (non medical), which has 160 seats, the cut off was 55.6 %; while the cut-off for BSc (medical), the cut off is 60.3 %. For BA, the cut off was 50 %.Tuesday is the last date for admission in Panchkula; late fee will be charged for admission given thereafter. “While Rs. 100 will be charged as late fee until July 22; thereafter, the college will begin to charge Rs. 100 for each day of delay,” said a GCG teacher.
HK Sharma, principal of Government College for Girls, Sector 14, said, “There should not be any confusion over the amount of fees for second and third year. A recent order from higher education department mandates that we must take the entire year’s fee at one time for second and third year students. However, from first year students, we will take fees for the first six months for now.”
