Justice Hemant Gupta of Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday said all the petitions at the HC would be filed through soft copies from January 1.
Inaugurating the new optical fibre dedicated lease line wi-fi system and e-filing system at the new bar complex of High Court Bar Association, Gupta, who is also the chairman of the computer committee, said case e-filing system had been introduced at the Punjab and Haryana HC and petitions filed through soft copies would be taken up on priority. He said this was a good initiative and it would help the advocates, litigants and overall judicial system.
Bar body members said the Punjab and Haryana HC was the first among the country’s high courts to have full wi-fi complex.
The wi-fi facility will serve 200 concurrent users at ‘good speed’, but could slow down a bit if large number of users are surfing the Internet at the same time.
They said the facility would be upgraded later to increase its capacity. To avail the facility, the lawyers would have to register with the bar.
