Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Monday sought more time from the Punjab and Haryana high court to file a reply on a petition relating to his alleged comments against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Following the submissions for more time from Singh's counsel, the high court bench of justice Navita Singh posted the matter for further hearing on August 10.
In 2014, Om Prakash Bansal, who claimed to be an RSS worker, approached the high court alleging that there were reports in the media that Digvijay Singh blamed the RSS for the July 2011 Mumbai attacks. Singh claimed in the reports that he had proofs to substantiate his claims, the petitioner said. The high court had issued a notice to the Congress leader in 2014.
Initially, Bansal had moved a local court in Sirsa for action against Singh. As the court turned down his petition, he approached the high court.
