The police on Wednesday lodged a complaint against several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers for manhandling the police while holding protests on Tuesday, demanding the arrest of a Congress worker who allegedly attacked RSS workers during a brawl over the use of a park on Sunday.

As per details, BJP Meham candidate and Khap leader Shamsher Kharkara and other party workers held a demonstration in front of the mini-secretariat here on Tuesday.

The protestors demanded that the police allow them to meet the superintendent of police (SP) so that they could press for the arrest of the accused involved in manhandling RSS workers on Sunday.

When the police refused to allow them to enter the mini-secretariat and cited that the Rohtak SP was not available in the office, Kharkara and several others tried to force their way into the building and attempted to manhandle the police.

However, the situation was soon brought under control by the intervention of additional police force.

BJP workers, however, raised slogans against the police for quite some time.

Rohtak SSP Saurabh Singh said they had lodged a complaint in this regard and were examining the case.

On Sunday, a few RSS and Congress workers entered into a spat over the use of the park opposite the Rohtak new bus stand, where the Congress workers were holding their party activities.

However, RSS workers wanted them to vacate the park for conducting a public meeting of Rohtak MLA BB Batra.
