Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday urged the prime minister to direct the Delhi government and get the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elections completed by December 31, the deadline fixed by the Supreme Court.

Addressing mediapersons at the inaugural function of Chaudhary Devi Lal Memorial Centre of Learning (CDCL), Badal appreciated the university trust for promoting higher education.

CDCL has been established by the Ch Devi Lal Memorial Trust over an area of 3 acres at Sector 28 here to provide professional education to enable youth to compete at the global level.

CDCL director Ajay Singh Chautala, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secretary general and Devi Lal's grandson, welcomed Badal and said that CDCL would impart vocational five-month skill training in various fields such as plumbers, electricians and AC mechanics, besides other courses and assured employment.

Chautala said the centre would also start IAS and IPS coaching classes from next year in collaboration with the other institutes in the region.

Earlier, after inaugurating the centre, Badal had paid floral tributes to late Devi Lal and lighted a lamp to mark the occasion.
