Congress candidate Arun Mickey Dogra on Saturday dubbed the Dasuya by-election result as an outcome of "corrupt practices" adopted by the ruling SAD-BJP combine while hinting at challenging the election of BJP candidate Sukhjit Kaur in Punjab and Haryana High Court soon.
Dogra said that though he had accepted the people's mandate, corrupt practices engineered by alliance ministers and leaders were a major reason for the victory of Sahi.
“We are consulting party high command to challenge the election of Sukhjit Kaur in the high court since use of money was rampant while ministers blatantly violated the poll code to benefit the BJP nominee,” he added.
On polling day, ministers and ruling alliance leaders remained in the constituency despite a ban by Election Commission of India and they ensured voters were ferried to polling booth in hired vehicles. “Jeeps were hired to ensure voters could reach the polling booths. The ministers’ and alliance MLAs' presence in the segment on polling day speaks volumes about allurements to the voters,” he added.
