State Congress committee spokesperson Hoshiyari Lal Sharma on Sunday said local MLA and Haryana Lokhit Party supremo Gopal Kanda has never carried out a single development work in Sirsa and now he is trying to claim credit for the same.
The developmental works in Sirsa have been done with the efforts of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress president Ashok Tanwar, Sharma said while addressing a workers' meeting at his office at Sirsa.
He said recently, wife of Gopal Kanda's younger brother Gobind Kanda had conducted the religious rituals to start the Begu road construction work. "It was just a drama and Kanda brothers are trying to fool people. But the reality is that tender for Rs 7.64-crore construction work of the Begu Road from the Shah Satnam Ji Chowk to Dera Sacha Sauda was floated in June and this tender was sent for approval to the state authorities," he added.
The tender has now been approved by the state government and work was allotted to a contractor of Hisar, Rajender Singh and he will start the work within a week, the Congress spokesperson added.
Sharma alleged that Gopal Kanda and his family have been trying to get the credit of government works, but people are aware of his deeds. "He has done nothing for Sirsa's people in his over four year tenure as MLA."
