A day after Rajya Sabha MP and veteran Congress leader Birender Singh met BJP national president Amit Shah in New Delhi amid speculation over him joining the saffron party, a Hisar-based youth organisation — Yuva Shakti — said both would attend its rally in Kaithal on August 18.

However, there was no official announcement either from Birender, who had earlier declared he would not contest the assembly polls on Congress ticket if chief minister Bhupinder SinghHoodaremainedtheparty’s leader in the state.

After an executive meeting of the Haryana BJP on Wednesday, Anil Jain, who holds joint charge of state affairs, told reporters Birender’s induction into the party would give it a “boost” ahead of the crucial assembly polls, adding that the BJP’s prospects for forming the government would be strengthened.

“If reports of his (Birender’s) induction are true, he’s welcome in the party fold,” BJP’s National Kisan Morcha president Om Prakash Dhankar remarked.

Alliance conditions to be revised
