Cong seeks justice for Geetika, holds protest candle march

Congress leader Sunita Setia led a protest candle march against Sirsa MLA and Haryana Lokhit Party supremo Gopal Kanda, who is accused in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, at Town Park on Friday evening.


The candle march that was called by Avantika Mankan Tanwar saw participation of hundreds of women and youth, who raised slogans seeking justice for Geetika Sharma.

Addressing the gathering, Congress leader Sunita Setia said they will continue their movement till Geetika Sharma's family gets justice. She urged to the court to punish the accused immediately in this case to prevent exploitation of innocent girls in future.

She asked how someone involved in such a crime can appeal to people for votes.

Hoshiyari Lal Sharma, state spokesperson of the Congress said, "We urge the honorable court to punish those involved in this heinous crime as soon as possible." He added that people will not give their support to Kanda's Haryana Lokhit Party because they know his reality.

Several other Congress leaders took part in the candle march.
