Congress councillor Harphool Chander Kalyan is new mayor of Chandigarh

As Congress bags the top post of mayor in the mayoral polls today here in Chandigarh, while senior deputy mayor post and deputy mayor post went to BJP councillors. Congress councillor Harphool Chander Kalyan is new mayor of Chandigarh, BJP councillor Heera Negi wins the post of senior deputy mayor, while post of deputy mayor goes to BJP councillor Davesh Mougdil.

Harphool Chander Kalyan got 21 votes and BJP councillor Rajinder Kaur Rattu managed to get only 14 votes out of total 36 votes, as one vote got invalid. BJP councillor Heera Negi got 18 votes and winning the election by just one vote against Congress councillor Sat Parkash Aggarwal who got 17 votes and again one vote was declared invalid, for the post of senior deputy mayor.

Davesh Mougdil BJP councillor wins the post of deputy mayor by getting 18 votes against Congress councillor Sheela Devi who managed only 16 votes and in this case also two votes were invalid.
