The members of Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee (CTCC) on Wednesday paid tributes to former prime minister Rajeev Gandhi on his birth anniversary at Congress Bhawan, Sector 35, Chandigarh.

While addressing the gathering, Pawan Bansal, former union minister, said though Gandhi was the prime minister of the country for only five years, his policies and planning would guide the country for the next century.

Bansal said far-sighted leaders like Gandhi had laid a strong foundation for our country and the coming generation.

CTCC president BB Bahl said it was Gandhi who reduced the age of universal adult franchise from 21 years to 18 years and gave reservation for women in local bodies.

Others present on the occasion were city mayor Harphool Chander Kalyan, former mayor Pardeep Chhabra, Congress councillors Satish Kainth, Darshan Garg and former councillor Harmohinder Singh Lucky.
