Constable attacked in Manimajra

A Chandigarh Police head constable was allegedly attacked by a father-son duo at Manimajra in Chandigarh on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Abdul and his son Nadeem. Police have arrested Abdul while Nadeem, who is a drug addict, is still at large.

Manimajra SHO inspector Charanjit Singh said head constable Amrik Singh was deployed at the Ramlila grounds near Qila, Manimajra. Nadeem entered into an argument with the head constable over some issue.

The accused left and later came back with his father and sister. The head constable alleged that Abdul held his hand from behind while Nadeem punched him. The cop sustained a cut below his eye. The accused have several cases registered against them.

A case under sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 34 (act done by several persons with common intention) and 506 of the IPC has been registered at the Manimajra police station.
