Constable, friend killed in Sirsa mishap

Two men from Jalanana village in the district were killed when a motorcycle they were riding on collided with a tractor-trolley near Chormar village on Tuesday.

According to the police, the victims have been identified as Iqbal Singh (30), a police constable, who was deployed at Hisar Police Lines, and his friend Gauri. Singh was returning home on Tuesday for Diwali. When he reached Odhan bus stand, he called up his friend Gauri to pick him up.

When the two were approaching Jalalana village, their motorcycle hit a tractor-trolley near Chormar village. Iqbal Singh died on the spot while Gauri suffered serious injuries. Gauri was rushed to a Sirsa hospital by locals. He was then referred to a hospital in Agroha, but he died on way.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the death of Singh and Gauri. The entire village and a team from Hisar police came to pay tributes to constable Iqbal Singh at his funeral. Iqbal Singh is survived by his wife and a seven-year-old daughter.
