The Chandigarh Narcotics Control Bureau on Wednesday arrested three persons in separate incidents and recovered contrabands from their possession in Chandigarh.
A team under supervision of Nirbhay Singh, superintendent NCB, Chandigarh, arrested Raj Adhikari (36) of Nagaland from near Kisan Bhawan roundabout in Sector 35and seized 6.6-kg opium from him. A case under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered. The seized contraband consignment is said to be worth around Rs 19.80 lakh in the international market. The accused had purchased the contraband from Assam and was going to supply it to Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.
In a separate case, the NCB sleuths seized 15-kg opium from two persons identified as Room Singh (46) and Pawan Kumar (41) from near Dhilon Cinema Hall, Manimajra.The two were arrested and a case under Sections 8/18 of the NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered against them. The contraband consignment is said to be worth of over Rs46 lakh in the international market. The consignment of the contraband seized was handed over to the accused at Bareilly (UP) and was meant to be supplied in Pinjore.
