Cops continue drive against wrong parking

Chandigarh police continued with its action against wrong parking of vehicles by motorists on Tuesday and arrested nine persons for the offence over two days.

Among the motorists booked were four auto-rickshaw drivers, three car drivers, and a bus and a pick-up van driver each.

All accused have been booked under Section 283 (endangering or obstructing public way or line of navigation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They were later released on bail.

While three cases were registered at the Sector 31 and Sector 36 police stations each, two were registered at the police station in Sector 39. A case each was also registered at the Sector 19 police station.

The accused have been identified as: Rajiv Kumar of Sector 43, Karamjeet Singh of Sector 56, Jasvir Singh of Daddumajra, Namdhar of Sector 53, Jitender Sharma of Sector 52, Gaurav of SAS Nagar, Aniket Gupta of Sector 48, Sarabjit Singh of SAS Nagar, and Amarjit Singh of Attawa.

In March, police have booked around 20 motorists for wrong parking so far.
