In a resumed hearing on Monday in Jyoti murder case, the local police placed record of mobile tower locations of 10 cellphone numbers, all from Airtel, before the court.

The numbers belonged to accused Doon MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary and his accomplices Dharampal, Gurmeet, Paramjit and victim Jyoti.

The tower location information is pertaining to days much before and after Jyoti’s murder.
In the last hearing, the police had moved the application for placing tower location of cell phones on record to which counsel of prime accused Chaudhary submitted no objection.

The application was then allowed, following which nodal officer of Bharti Airtel, Achyut Aggarwal, was called.

Earlier, the nodal officer was examined on October 17, 2013. According to prosecution, he had proved the call details along with proof of addresses and the application form of the subscribers for five cellphone numbers.

At that time, the police had wanted to put infor mation on the tower locations on judicial file but the request was declined by sessions judge Ravi Kumar Sondhi by giving observation that these documents were not part of the charge sheets nor any application to produce the same as additional evidence was moved.

The police then moved the application on the last hearing to re-examine nodal officer with tower locations i.e. cellphone IDs in decoded form of mobile numbers. The cross examination of the nodal officer will take place on May 22.

Jyoti, a Dalit girl of Bhunga village in Hoshi arpur, was found dead with her head smashed on a road in Sector 21, Panchkula, on November 22, 2012. The Doon MLA is the prime accused in the case.
