A newly married couple committed suicide by throwing themselves before a running train in Khekhe village of Barnala district in Punjab on Thursday.

Jasbir Singh (24) and his wife Ramandeep Kaur (23), who tied the knot just six months ago, had gone to visit a gurdwara this morning. The couple later went to the railway line in the village and threw themselves before a running passenger train. Both of them died on the spot.

The family members of Jasbir claimed that there was no dispute in the family and no unpleasant development happened this morning which could have led the couple to commit suicide.

Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC, in this regard.
