The Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has dismissed a conductor on the charges of embezzlement of funds and selling fake tickets on Thursday.

Erring employee Chhavi Parkash was dismissed from service on the orders of director, transport, TPS Phoolka.

In 2007, disciplinary proceedings under rule 8 of the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970, were initiated against Parkash on the charges of selling fake tickets to passengers.

Parkash, who was posted at the advance booking counter, was caught selling fake tickets during a surprise checking by the senior staff. The erring conductor was served chargesheet, but his reply was found unsatisfactory.

Consequently, a probe was initiated to inquire into the charges framed against Parkash.
According to officials, all witnesses made categorical statement in support of the charges. Not only this, the inquiry officer also examined the books of accounts of the CTU and made certain enquiries, which Parkash failed to explain.
