CU celebrates National Photography Day

World Photography Day is celebrated world-wide to commemorate the science of photography that captures rare moments forever.

Chandigarh University, Gharuan celebrated the day to mark the 175th anniversary of photography and held various competitions were organised by University Institute of Animation and Multimedia.

Renowned photographer and student mentor of the region, Anand Sharma along with RS Bawa, vice-chancellor, Chandigarh University inaugurated the event which also included discussion on various aspects of photography by industry experts.

While talking with the students, Anand said although digital photography had overtaken traditional photography, yet photography was an art and proper training and guidance was required to master it.

“Photography forms the backbone of fashion, film, television, advertisement, internet and animation industry and hence provides great employment opportunities for the young students who are joining the industry. I am happy that students do not believe in following stereotpical professions and are willing to explore options other than the conventional ones,” he added.
