Former member Parliament (MP) Satya Pal Jain has urged the Chandigarh administration to call the representatives of the management and employees of the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, to find an amicable solution to the demand of the Chandigarh Club Employees' Union.
Jain on Thursday visited the dharna site of the agitating employees in Sector 30 and assured them of full support from the BJP in their struggle for the acceptance of their genuine demands.
Over 300 employees are protesting since June 10 after the club management suspended 59 employees for protesting against the management outside the labour office in Sector 30.
The employees are demanding dearness allowance (DA) that was scheduled to be paid to them in April be included in their salaries in May, but the club management did not do so.
Jain said the policies of the Congress were anti-people and anti-poor. He said had the BJP been in power, the present problem would have been solved within a few days. But, unfortunately neither the political bosses nor the officers of the Chandigarh administration bothered to listen to the grievances of the employees.
Chandigarh Club president Sandeep Sahni could not be contacted.
