Long queues from as early as 7:30am did not deter aspirants hoping to secure admissions to Class 11 from buying prospectuses from the six government schools across the city.

Despite the soaring mercury in the morning, 10,859 prospectuses were sold on the first day for availability of prospectuses for admissions to various government schools.

Ritesh Kumar who reached Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-10, at 7:30am said, “Rush is always witnessed on the first day because all the students think that they should register as soon as they can. Students like me who hail from outside the city come to the schools rather than accessing the form online.”

The education department has declared that there are 12,500 seats in various categories namely: science, medical, non-medical and humanities. Students who deserve the admission will be selected according to their cumulative grade point average and the cut off marks.

The prospectus and registration form will also be available on the website of the department: www.chdeducation.gov.in.

While some made a bee-line for government schools, others opted for online registration to escape the hassle of standing in long queues. Neeti Singh, who has secure 9.8 CGPA says, “I am confident my name will come in the second list and might occur in the first too, I opted for the online process since there is no point standing in line and waiting all day to buy the form.”

Rahul Mehta, another student who has sought admission to GMSSS-35 as his first choice and GMSSS, Mani Majra as second, said: “What is the point when you can sit at home and fill the form. Maybe more awareness is required.”

Where to buy the form?
