AAP supporters broke into celebrations following news of the party’s historic victory in New Delhi. In Amritsar, party volunteers of the city unit led by Ashok Talwar and Dr Daljit Singh, who unsuccessfully contested the LS Polls, celebrated Kejriwal’s landslide win.
Dr Daljit Singh, a renowned eye surgeon, said, “The win of Kejriwal has given us hope again. His win is the victory of people of India. It is the victory of truth. The AAP was suffering because it has a weak organisation, but now we will all team up and make our organisation stronger. Before the next assembly elections in 2017, we have two years to win in Punjab. The AAP has to work hard, only then we can give a strong fight to the SAD-BJP and Congress.”
The AAP Amritsar unit celebrated the win by raising the slogans ‘Panch Saal, Kejriwal’. The volunteers got together at Dr Daljit Singh’s eye hospital and moved to Lawrence Road and Company Bagh areas. In the evening, the unit drove to the Golden Temple for thanksgiving.
“In the hospital, we had put up a big screen where the party workers got together to see the updates of the results. Most party workers remained glued to television screens throughout the day,” Singh said.
In Sangrur, party workers were overjoyed with the victory of the party and distributed sweets at public places.
