Deputy Commissioner Panchkula SS Phulia, on Thursday, suspended a clerk of municipal corporation (MC) for allegedly withdrawing old age pension of a woman illegally for over 13 months.

Preet Mahinder, an MC clerk, who was posted at Kalka, allegedly fraudulently used a thumb impression to reflect that elderly Kamla Devi withdrew pension. On the other hand, he himself withdrew pension in October 2010, January 2011, March 2011 to December 2011 and in September 2012.

The elderly woman had complained to the clerk a number of times but he did not listen.

Finally, she lodged a complaint with the DC Phulia, who marked an inquiry to social welfare officer.

It came out that Preet Mahinder got to know about the inquiry and returned the entire amount to him.

“To teach him a lesson, we have suspended him and a complaint will also be sent to the police," said the DC Phulia. He has been transferred to Pinjore now.
