Monday is the last date for submission of forms for admission of students from economically weaker sections to fill reserved seats in entry-level classes of private schools.
The application forms can be submitted at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19 between 9 am to 12 pm.
In its notification issued last week, the UT education department had said 217 such seats remained vacant in 25 private schools in the city and also extended the deadline for submitting the forms.
Under the Right to Education Act, 2009, private schools are required to reserve 25% of their entry-level seats for the underprivileged sections of the society.
For instance, 35 seats are vacant at St Stephen’s School for Class 1 while 22 seats remain vacant in the nursery section of Manav Mang al School, Sector 21.
Likewise, 15 seats remain vacant at Shishu Niketan Model School, Sector 28, nursery section, 16 seats in the prenursery section of Ankur Public School, Sector 14, 13 seats in the nursery section of Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, and 12 seats at Kulwant Rai Sarhitkari Vidya Mandir, Sector 43.
As per the notification, the education department will send the admission forms of the students to the school of their choice.
Parents then will have to visit that school on March 4-5 to further follow the admission process.
